Welcome volunteers to a wonderful ministry that
has been proven to prolong the lives of residents in care facilities,
by bringing hope to the hopeless through the good news of
eternal life through Jesus Christ.
It was through volunteering with this ministry that I
learned how valuable the gift of crocheting laprobes for these
residents is. I had the (unexpected) privilege of presenting
laprobes to two residents of a care facility one afternoon. Just
seeing how their eyes shined and how their smiles wouldn't
leave their faces after receiving the newly crocheted
laprobes, warmed my heart and lead me to want to share this
wonderful opportunity with you.
You may never get to see the faces of these residents as they
receive them, but just know they cling to their new laprobe as a
child would to a new-found treasure and they will literally enjoy
them every day for the rest of their lives!
If you love to crochet and would like to volunteer to make
laprobes to send to Crossroads Ministries USA, Inc., I have
provided a laprobe pattern for you to use. You can also provide
your own pattern as well. This pattern consists of your basic
granny squares sewn together in panels, and then doing
something double-crochet rounds for the edging. Very simple,
yet others really seem to enjoy them. You might want to consider
purchasing the Bernat yarns from this site, because they offer a soft,
durable yarn that will be a treasured hierloom. Their yarns are very
easy to crochet with, and there is a color and texture for any type of
laprobe you would want to create.
Send the completed laprobes to:

I hope you will consider being a volunteer crocheter for
Crossroads Ministries USA, Inc. As I mentioned before, it's a
wonderful opportunity to use your gift of crocheting for others
who will sincerely treasure your work!
Very sincerely,
